Paper Boat Studios is a collaboration between two friends who met on a wooden boat years ago. Sharing a passion for paper and the printed mark, they developed their interests in letterpress separately, and joined forces in 2008 to establish Paper Boat Studios.

Mandolin Brassaw earned her PhD in English from the University of Oregon in 2008. To maintain her sanity during graduate school, she escaped to the UO printmaking lab, where she discovered letterpress. She combines her love of the written word with specialized bookbinding and printmaking techniques and runs a Vandercook SP-15 out of her home studio in Portland, OR.

Amy Thompson is a printmaker and book artist living and working in St. Louis, MO. She received her MFA in Visual Art from the Sam Fox School of Design & Visual Arts at Washington University in St. Louis in 2007. She teaches bookbinding and drawing at Wash U and is a founding member of RADLAB, a local printmaking collective, where she operates two (very rad) Chandler & Price letterpress printing presses.
